The quality of your scans is directly linked to lighting levels, so here are some suggestions in ensuring good practice.
1. Maximise daylight
Scan at brightest part of the day - don't go out at dusk and dawn.
2. Maximise static lighting
Ensure areas to be scanned are well lit with artificial lighting on
Consider using light strips for site lighting as it looks neater and produces better scan results.
3. Mobile lighting solutions
Do not use beam/head torches or phone flash lights
Any targeted light source that throws a beam will result in grainy scenes, processing problems, and location inaccuracy.
Only use a diffuse light source that provides wide and even lighting
