Step by step guide to set up your new camera
1. Before using the camera, ensure that it is fully charged. To charge it, simply open the USB port door located at the bottom of the camera. Connect the camera to a power supply or laptop using the provided cable. You will know it is charging when you see a solid red LED indicator.
2. To install the micro SD card, follow these steps to dismantle the camera:
- Remove the lens module by pressing the buttons at the top of the handle module and pulling on the lens module.
- Slide the screen and core modules out of the frame by pushing it up through the USB port door. If you're having trouble, you can plug in the charging cord and use it to push the modules up
. - Separate the two remaining modules
- Once the modules are separated, you can insert the micro SD card into the designated slot. IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you are using a supported SD card. It should be at least 128Gb and be Video Speed Class V30
- Finally, rebuild the camera by putting all the elements back together.
3. Firmware and activation - Insta360
- Download the Insta360 - For Go2, One X2, One R/RS app from your app store (the logo has white background with yellow circle)
- Turn on the camera, by pressing and holding the power button
- Select camera language on the camera screen
- Open the Insta360 app, and follow the prompt to connect the camera
- If your firmware requires an update, the app will give you an update notice - when you see this, hit 'Download'
- After downloading, follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to the camera and upload the firmware
- After uploading, the camera will start updating automatically
- If this is your first time using the camera, a pop up will appear for activation - follow the on-screen instructions to activate the camera
- Once firmware is updated and camera is activate, you can close the Insta360 Go app (this should no longer be required)
4. Camera settings
Turn on the camera, and use the camera screen to update the settings as below:
- Press and swipe down on the arrow at the top of the screen - this will open up settings
- Under General, navigate to and set the following options
- USB mode = U-disk
- Auto power off = 5 mins
- Complete gyro calibration following on screen instructions
- Under General, navigate to and set the following options

- Then scroll down on main setting menu, and change Screen auto sleep to Timer = 3 mins
- On the home screen, ensure that it is set to Timelapse mode (clock symbol) and 6K and 0.5s, by clicking on the symbols at the bottom of the screen - it should show 6K 2:1/0.5s
TROUBLESHOOTING

- Ensure the camera is turned on with the red power button on the side, not the record button
- Ensure that wifi and bluetooth are enabled on the mobile device
