Step by step guide to set up your new camera

1. Before using the camera, ensure that it is fully charged.

To charge it, simply open the USB port door located at the side if the camera. Connect the camera to a power supply or laptop using the provided cable. You will know it is charging when you see a solid red LED indicator. (NOTE: the provided cable is USB-C to USB-C)



2. Install the micro SD card

Pull out the battery by pulling the two levers towards each other.
Insert the micro SD card into the slot as shown below.





3. Firmware and activation - Insta360

  • Download the Insta360 - For Go2, One X2, One X4, One R/RS app from your app store (the logo has white background with yellow circle)
  • Turn on the camera, by pressing and holding the power button
  • Select camera language on the camera screen
  • Open the Insta360 app, and follow the prompt to connect the camera
  • If your firmware requires an update, the app will give you an update notice - when you see this, hit 'Download'
  • After downloading, follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to the camera and upload the firmware
  • After uploading, the camera will start updating automatically
  • If this is your first time using the camera, a pop up will appear for activation - follow the on-screen instructions to activate the camera
Once firmware is updated and camera is activated, you can close the Insta360 Go app (this should no longer be required).

4. Camera Settings
Turn on the camera, and use the camera screen to update the settings as below:
        • Swipe down to open up the menu and find the settings icon. Under Settings, navigate to and set the following options
          1. Auto Sleep > 3 mins
          2. Auto power off > 5 mins
          3. Power-Off Charging > Charge and Power on
          4. Image Settings > Bitrate > High
          5. Customize Button: Under the Quick Button section, select Lock the screen. Under the Menu Button section, select Power button.


          6. Wifi Settings: Change to Always On instead of Auto. Find the password for the wifi there also.
          7. Complete the Gyroscope Calibration following the on-screen instructions.
          8. On the home screen, ensure that the two main recording modes are set to the correct settings:
            1. Set Timelapse mode (clock symbol) to resolution 5.7 K , frame rate 30 and interval  0.5 s, by clicking on the symbols at the bottom of the screen.
            2. Set Video mode should to resolution 5.7 k and frame rate 24.




Lastly, place the camera into the thermal grip as shown below.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the camera is not being detected by the mobile device

      1. Ensure the camera is turned on with the red power button on the side, not the record button
      2. Ensure that wifi and bluetooth are enabled on the mobile device
      3. Ensure you have added your camera's unique wifi code in the app
