Insta360 X5 camera setup

Step by step guide to set up your new camera

 

You do not need the Insta360 app installed on your phone.

You just need the Oculo mobile app installed on your phone

1. Charge the camera

To charge it, simply open the USB port door located at the side if the camera. Connect the camera to a power supply or laptop using the provided cable. You will know it is charging when you see a solid red LED indicator. (NOTE: the provided cable is USB-C to USB-C)

2. Install the micro SD card

Pull out the battery by pulling the two levers on the side towards each other.
Insert the micro SD card into the slot.

3. Firmware and activation - Oculo mobile app

  • Download the Oculo mobile app, if you haven't already.
  • Turn on the camera, by pressing and holding the power button
  • Select camera language on the camera screen
  • Even if the camera asks you to install the Insta360 app DO NOT follow this instruction as it's not needed.
  • Open the Oculo mobile app, and follow the prompt to connect the camera

  • If the app prompts you to update camera firmware, please do so. Using outdated firmware may cause problems with connectivity or scan processing.

  • After firmware is up to date, the app will automatically activate the camera.
 
4. Camera Settings
 
Use the camera screen to update the settings as below:
  • Swipe down to open up the menu and find the settings icon.
  • Under Settings (cog symbol), configure as follows:
    • Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-FI > Toggle On
    • Image Settings > Bitrate > High
    • Power-off charging > Charge and Power On
    • Complete the Gyroscope Calibration following the on-screen instructions
  • Swipe up to go back to the home screen
  • Click on the capture mode bottom left (it should be a camera icon 📹), configure as Timelapse (clock symbol shown below)
  • Click on the resolution bottom middle, configure as 
    • Resolution: 5.7K
    • Frame Rate: 30
    • Interval: 0.5s

 

If you installed the Insta360 app on your phone, please uninstall it.
