Looking after your action camera is vital to getting the most out of it. Here are a few good practices to keep in mind.
Keep it clean- The first and most straightforward rule is to keep your camera lenses clean. Your action camera kit comes with a microfibre cloth, use this to clean away and dust and debris that may get on the lens. Even if the lens appears clean, it is worth giving it an extra clean with the cloth before and after use.
Keep it charged
- Charge your camera after each use so that it is always ready to go.
- When not in-use or charging, it is advised to use a lens protector or leave the camera in the box similar to how it was delivered. By folding in the mount, you can fit the camera back into the box so it is protected - close up the box for added security and leave the box in a safe place until later use.
Ensure the mounting point is solid
- When mounting the camera, make sure the adhesive is properly stuck to the hardhat and that no part of the camera is loose-fitted.
Make sure there is enough storage space on the camera
- To delete any unwanted videos on the camera, swipe right from the left side of the screen for the X2 camera and swipe up from the bottom side of the screen for the 1 RS camera. You can then find any recorded videos and delete them by tapping the dustbin icon, then tapping confirm. Make sure you follow any company archiving policy before deleting videos!
Format SD card occasionally
- Maintain good SD card health by occasionally formatting it via the camera interface. Ensure you follow any company archiving policy before formatting as this will delete all videos from the camera.
- To format the SD Card, swipe down from the top at the main menu, then swipe left at the options. Tap the Gear icon to open the settings, and scroll down to find SD Card. Tap this option, and you will be given the remaining available space on the SD Card inside the camera, with the option to format it below. Press the button, and confirm your choice to format the camera.
- The camera once on, should show how much time of recording is left before the memory is full - this should be your guide on the frequency of formatting required.
Follow these guidelines, and your camera should stay operational and performant.
